Research Innovation Fund
Creating a new product or service, technology or process, demands three essential ingredients: the right people, the right tools, and the financial resources necessary to do it. The Research Innovation Fund [RIF] is designed to do exactly this. Its aim is to advance the province’s research community’s capacity to develop innovations that can be commercialized and have economic impact New Brunswick.
Funding under the RIF can be used for:
- Emerging projects that assess or strengthen the technical or scientific aspects of an idea
- Start up grants to recruit and hire outstanding researchers and professors
- Concept validation for prototype development, bench testing, clinical trials and more
- Innovation capacity development initiatives for investments in the resources and infrastructure necessary to carry out applied research activities
To meet the eligibility criteria of the fund, proposals must demonstrate a potential commercial application for one of the Foundation’s strategic industries. Once your application is received, the review process begins immediately. Decisions are normally made within six weeks. There is no deadline for this fund.
