Research Assistantship Initiative Applications

Applications

Formal requests for funding must be submitted only by an organization, or through the official research services department of a New Brunswick community college or university. A selection committee comprised of representatives of the Foundation and the Department of Post-Secondary Education, Training and Labour [PETL] selects the successful applicants.

Applications are to be submitted by completing the RAI Application Form. In general, it will summarize the research program’s objectives, methodology, anticipated contribution to knowledge, and potential for innovation. Specifically, it will identify the number of undergraduate and graduate research assistantships requested, and the duration for each, and explain the expected contribution of the incumbents.

Successful applications are jointly announced by the foundation and PETL. Recipients are required to recognize the financial contribution of the foundation and PETL in publications that directly or indirectly include the work of the technician. Annual financial reports are required that list the utilization of all funds, including those leveraged or matched by other funding sources or organizations.

RAI funding is deadline driven, with one competition each academic year, normally held in winter. Competitions are generally opened 60 days before the deadline date, and are communicated in advance.

The foundation is currently accepting applications for the 2010 Winter round, the deadline for which is midnight, January 29, 2010.
