Conductive Paper Takes Charge
KnowCharge's conductive paper technology provides an environmentally sustainable and cost effective means to build static protection or anti-counterfeit capabilities directly into the DNA of paper. When in packaging, KnowCharge's paper can ground a static shock, protecting sensitive electronics during shipping. It can also store a small charge providing a unique signature for products that are targets for counterfeiting.
Most recently, the company has added a third component to its technology's application: paper batteries. So far, the company's R&D program has produced a piece of paper can store and discharge electricity equal to that of a AA battery.
KnowCharge got started in 2009 after winning the $50,000 second prize in NBIF's Breakthru Business Plan Competition. The progress of the company has led to follow-on investments of $300,000.
